The Vånga project is located in the Swedish electricity price area SE4 that is currently struggling with volatile electricity prices.
Mine Storage has secured land rights and is planning to build a 80 MWh mine storage facility. The mine storage can be emptied and filled several times per day. Thus, a mine storage facility in Vånga can become a valuable contribution to the energy system in the region.
The site takes advantage of the height difference between an open quarry located above Lake Ivösjön as the upper reservoir and Lake Ivösjön as the lower reservoir.
Location: Vånga, Skåne, Sweden
Size: 15-30 MW / 60-80 MWh
Application: Energy trading and ancillary services
Head: 120 meters
Estimated completion year: 2027
The Norberg project is located in the the Swedish electricity price area SE3 and also has potential to make a good pilot case.
The large decomissioned iron mine gives a flexible solution with a good ration of power and energy.
Norberg will be able to support the grid with ancillary services and to provide power during peak load hours.
Location: Bergslagen, Sweden
Size: 15 MW / 90 MWh
Application: Energy trading and anciallary services
Head: 50-100 meters
Estimated completion year: 2028
Mine Storage is currently in the process of qualifying several mines in Finland and has entered into a land use agreement for investigation purposes with the landowner Korsnäs municipality in Ostrobothnia. Mine Storage are looking for more opportunities in Finland and are currently initiating negotiations for another site in Lapland.
Location: Finland
Size: TBD
Application: Energy trading and anciallary services
Head: Potentially +100 meters
Estimated completion year: 2029
